Race Update:

We just returned from our last race at Road Atlanta. It was a fantastic weekend. We made a huge leap forward by leading in the semi and final only to fall out of both due to a broken water line. I'm happy to report that our Spear MotorSports Super Clean 250 powered by WiWa was not only at the front of the pack, we were the front of the pack. After qualifying second, we enjoyed our first lead of the season in both sessions!! See all the lap times here at MyLaps.com and you'll see we set fastest lap of the race.

Our WiWa powered Gas Gas 250 was amazing, the chassis was on rails, Dunlop tires were superb and Super Clean kept the filth away all weekend.

This weekend was particularly special for us because we were fortunate to meet a number of competitors from Germany. WiWa Chef der Firma, Herr Manfred Wittenborn, FE Rennfahrer, Herr Juergen Reinke, ICE Rennfahrer, Herr Martin Reuck and crew are some of the most dedicated racers we have ever met. It was a pleasure competing with them. We look forward to seeing them again in December at VIR.

Thanks to Frank Widmoser for his hospitality and for doing so much to ensure our friends from Germany had the tools and facilities necessary to compete and be comfortable at the track. (Freut mich, bis bald und Viel Gluck!)

The United States Kart Gran Prix is next on our schedule and we look forward to amazing competition from around the world as well as positive results for Spear MotorSports. Stay tuned!

We have two Superkart classes on the track in this video. You'll notice some karts with significant accelration compared to our kart, they're twin cylinder FE (Formula E) Superkarts, the karts in my class are single cylinder ICE (Inter-Continental E) Superkarts. Enjoy.

Race Report: Road America Super Nationals

It was a great race weekend for Spear MotorSports SuperClean 250 Powered by Wiwa. We enjoyed fantastic weather and fierce competition. We qualified second overall, then on Saturday were fast enough to compete for the lead but lost speed late in the race and ended up finishing 11th overall due to a cut tire from contact on the track that resulted in an early retirement.

In the final on Sunday we finished fourth overall and second in class. We have some handling improvements to make, plenty of power and are excited about our progress.

Congratulations to Andy Kiker who qualified and finished first overall and enjoyed a dominating weekend.

Race Update: No Joy...
Our race weekend was a complete rain-out. Points will be awarded based on qualifying position so our SpearMotorsports' SuperClean 250 scored two 2nd place finishes.

We were only able to complete three qualifying laps due to a broken coil wire. Our Dunlop tires were perfect and SuperClean kept the grime off the machine. (These things are greasy, nasty pigs and only the best degreaser will do.)

While we're disappointed that we couldn't compete for the win, we are exceedingly pleased with our prospects for racetime!

Special thanks to Kraig Reash @ SuperClean, Jim Russell Jr. and John Russell @ Russell Karting, CRC Motorsports, Riley Will @ BRC, Pat Yoshikane @ P1, Bell and Oakley for their support of our Superkart effort. Weather permitting, 2007 is looking so bright we'll have to wear shades...Oakley shades.

Race Update: Rain...
The race scheduled for today was rained out, we will attempt to make up this race tomorrow morning and hit the track again that afternoon for the regularly scheduled Sunday race. It will be a long day, but we're competitive, stay tuned!

Scott Fiesler (Emmick/West Racing Honda RS) was running second until he went off track, dropping back to fourth behind Mitch White (Emmick/SwedeTech Pavesi). He was able to work his way back up to second in front of Brian Wilhelm (Owl/SwedeTech Pavesi) until Wilhelm set him up for a last lap pass for the runner-up spot, putting Fiesler third on the podium.

Round two of the Super Kart Illustrated F-125 Challenge presented by Dunlop was held June 10 in Elkhart Lake, WI during Badger Kart Club’s Road America Super Nationals.

Friday practice was punctuated with quick laps from the usual suspects. When the day was done, Mike Spear Jr. set an unofficial track record, outpacing last year’s quick time set by Kyle Schreiber by almost 2 seconds a lap. Spear lapped the storied facility at a brisk 2:27.60. Brian Wilhelm wasn’t far behind in the mid 29’s, followed by teammate Mitch White...

...2004 series champion Mike Spear Jr. had bad luck at Atlanta and again at Daytona with a blistered tire, dropping him back to a second place finish. The 2005 season was a laid back campaign as the Spear family missed a few rounds of the series. Spear has also added his name to the list of drivers moving to SwedeTech power aboard his Emmick. Spear has proven when he is on his game, few can run with him. He’ll look to reaffirm this by taking the win in Barber in hopes for the 2006 series title....

...It was a short day for the road racing teams with only four races on the schedule, allowing everyone to get an early start for home before the New Year. Mr. Daytona Randy Fulks captured his fourth victory of the event after a 45 minute battle again with Scott Greiner in Yamaha Heavy. Grenier lead for most of race with Fulks able to slingshot at the finish line. On the track at the same time, a father-son battle was going on between Mike Spear Sr. & Jr. in the 100cc Controlled class. Though the younger Spear looked to be patiently waiting for a last lap pass, he wasn’t able to stay in front at the checkered flag...

Wilhelm and two-time Daytona winner Mike Spear Jr. (Emmick) battle up front before Wilhelm’s engine let go. During the 45 minute race, Spear’s right front tire began to blister and cause a serious vibration. Fiesler was able to capitalize and move around Spear for the lead and the win. Todd Behrens (Emmick) improved his lap times from this year and was finished a strong third spot Mitch White (Emmick) - runner-up in the championship standings – in fourth. SKI F125 rookie Michael Lattos (SpeedCraft) finished fifth...

...At the start of the 45-minute race, the field left the grid minus one driver, defending champion Mike Spear Jr. (Emmick/Pavesi), who stalled at the drop of the green and had to be restarted. He quickly rejoined the back of the pack after getting a restart. At the front, it was 2003 champion Scott Fiesler (Emmick/Honda) and Wilhelm. Fiesler grabbed the lead early and Wilhelm followed, learning the path of his rival. Four laps into the event, as the top two came up on traffic on the front straight, Fiesler got tangled with a slower 250cc Superkart and completed about three-360degree spins. He gathered his machine and was able to limp his ride back to pit lane, ending his day. Laps later, Spear had a similar encounter with a lap car on the front stretch and finished his day short of the mark as well...
